Black money: Rajnath slams Sonia Gandhi's 'silence' Guwahati, March 21 : Former BJP national president Rajnath Singh today took a dig at Congress chief Sonia Gandhi over her silence on the black money issue. Taking potshots at Ms Gandhi, Mr Singh questioned the chief of the country’s ruling party for not coming out in the open with her views on such an important issue which is being debated across the nation. ''Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has finally made some comments in the Parliament on the black money issue. But Sonia Gandhi remains silent over such a burning issue,'' the BJP leader said. ''When it comes to addressing political rallies, she is loud and vocal. But when the nation wants to know her views on the black money, she is keeping silent,'' he added. The BJP demanded that the Congress president must make a statement on the matter at the earliest. Referring to the vast amount of black money believed to be stashed away in foreign banks, Mr Singh said if this money were brought back, no Indian would have to pay tax for at least 30 years. ''Even with such amount of money involved, the government fails to take any noteworthy step,'' Mr Singh observed. On the recent WikiLeaks revelations over the government buying lawmakers in 2008 to sail through a no-confidence motion, he said it exposed the corruption roots of the government. ''What can one expect from a government that itself is established on foundation of corruption,'' Mr Singh said. .
