Arunachal gears up for October 13 Assembly polls Itanagar, Sep 22 : With the battle lines drawn for the October13 Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, the state election machinery, including district election officials, is making all preparations on war footing for the D Day. According to reports from various districts, the election department is sparing no efforts to look into every aspect and minute details of its poll preparations. Besides looking into the security aspects and other arrangements, the election officials have started imparting training to the officials for smooth conduct of the elections. As a part of this exercise, a team of experts from Electronic Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad, yesterday imparted training to the master trainers on use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) followed by a demonstration of other poll related matters at Anini, the headquarters of Dibang Valley district. All the nodal officers of EVM awareness team attended the training programme. The master trainers will conduct the awareness campaign in the district to educate the villagers of from September 24. Earlier, the first level checking of electronic voting machines was done in the presence of administrative officers and other nodal officers, as per the EC directives. Altogether 62 EVMs, which were used in the last Parliamentary election, have been checked and were found to be fit for their re-use in the coming assembly polls in the district, while six were found to be out of order. Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of Anini Talom Dupak said the final publication of electoral photo identity cards (EPIC) was completed.
