Congress not to support Common Naga Platform

Kohima, Sep 10: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today came out against the proposed Common Naga Platform (CNP) saying it was not necessary at this juncture.

In a release, issued here today by NPCC President K V Pusa said, ''The proposed CNP is not necessary at this juncture to avoid the intrusion of political disease into our system and ward of further fragmentation and division of Naga society.'' He maintained that Nagas couldn’t afford to keep on fragmenting by creating social entities after entities.

Extending its deep appreciation to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for rendering an incredible and worthy service in bringing the Naga political groups together in a true Christian belief and principle, Mr Pusa pointed out that factional killings have come to a halt today only through the initiative of FNR and understanding and reciprocate attitude shown by the Naga underground groups.

This has lead to gradual improvement of situation as far as factional killings are concerned, he said.

The relentless efforts of FNR have enlivened the hope and expectation towards fulfilling the ardent and cherished aspiration of Naga people. So all sections of Nagas should lend support to the FNR, he commented.
