Assam Govt. sets surrender deadline for DHD(J)

Guwahati, Sep 4: Assam government has set September 15 deadline for the rebel outfit Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) also known as black widow to surrender with arms and ammunitions.

The outfit has earlier offered unilateral ceasefire and sent a proposal in this regard to the state government.

Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday held a high level security meeting relating to law and order with Union home minister, P. Chidambaram and union home secretary, G.K Pillai in New Delhi.

According to the press statement issued by the state government, the outfit has to fulfill four conditions, these includes surrender within September 15 with arms and ammunitions, after surrender the cadres will have to stay at designated camps to be set up by government, all extortion drives must be stooped and the top leader of the outfit will have to come forward for peace talks with the government.

The black widow militants have unleashed a reign of terror in the North Cachar hills of Assam few months back. The outfit received major jolt when Jewel Gorlossa the commander in chief of the outfit was arrested by police in Bangalore in June this year.
