Arunachal gearing up with new surprises to woo tourists

Itanagar, Aug 29 : Mystical Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh, which has already won the hearts of thousands of domestic as well as foreign tourists for its mesmerizing scenic beauty and warm and hospitable people, is now gearing up for new surprises to woo more tourists.

With the initiative of Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, who hails from the district, efforts are on to engrave portraits of Sangey Chomden (Lord Buddha), Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhave) and Chandeze (Tara Devi) from the steep rocky mountain of Sharo village.

The portraits are expected to be completed within the next two years as the work on it has already been started.

The site of portrait can easily be visible for the commuters driving from Jang towards Tawang and after completion it would be one of the hotspot of the district, official sources informed.

The chief minister while inspecting the site yesterday directed the artist, who is on the job, to ensure the last finishing touches of the sculptures.

He viewed that since Tawang is already a hot tourist destination, avenues and new initiatives have to be taken up to attract more tourists in the near future, sources added.
