AAPSU irked over NPF's bid to enter Arunachal politics 

Itanagar, Aug 28 : The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has expressed grave concern over the reported electioneering by Nagaland Peoples' Front (NPF) leaders in insurgency-hit Tirap and Changlang districts in the run-up to the Assembly elections to be held in October and urged the Governor to intervene into the matter. 

In a statement here today, AAPSU president Takam Tatung alleged that four NPF leaders, including Z Lohi, former Speaker and present advisor to the Nagaland Chief Minister Nephiu Rio, Thanwang Wangcho, NPF vice-president, former MLA from Mon district Tinkhap Wangnau and NPF member Wenkhang Konyak, were reportedly campaigning in the districts. 

He urged the Governor to invoke Article 371(H) in the two districts. 

The student union termed the act as unethical on part of NPF, claiming that it had the potential to sabotage the age-old feelings of brotherhood amongst different tribes of the state. 

Stressing that the situation in the two districts has aggravated and become fragile and confusing, the union urged the Governor to immediately invoke Article 371 (H) as per the power conferred on him by the Indian Constitution. 

''Propagation of politics covertly in the name of origin, community and region is a dengerous sign and the people of the state and the union cannot be hoodwinked and can clearly differentiate the nature of polity being played out,'' he said. 

'' Whoever we are, whatever may be our origin, the fact is that we are Arunachalees first and no force has the power to dispossess us from the bonding,'' he added. 

''Enough pain and the brunt of losing many brilliant human resources have been withstood by the two districts owing to the past mistakes committed by the leaders of the area and it seems some few leaders, who are hell bent to grab power by any means, are fiddling with the deceptive idea once again albeit a new course in the form of electoral politics, said added. 

The union cautioned political leaders of the state to disengage themselves from such misadventures and warned that anybody hobnobbing with such imposters will be declared anti Arunachalee.
