LF trying to wipe out opposition in Tripura and West Bengal : Congress

Agartala, Jul 18 : The Tripura Congress has demanded immediate intervention of the Centre following 'lawlessness' in West Bengal and alleged that the ruling Left Front in both the states had forged a conspiracy to wipe out the opposition.

Leader of the opposition in Tripura Assembly Ratan Lal Nath here today said the situation in West Bengal was aggravated by the Left Front government and the recent attack on opposition MLAs at Mangalkot had exposed the policies of the Leftists.

He demanded immediate intervention of the Centre to protect the lives and property of the people in West Bengal where law and order had collapsed totally.

Referring to Tripura Panchayat election he pointed out, ''The left Front cadres are attacking the opposition with the direct instigation of the government and Chief Minister Manik Sarkar himself is terrorising our workers.''
