VC renders resignation to Assam Guv 

Guwahati, May 10: Vice chancellor of the Gauhati Univeresity Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury on Saturday tendered his resignation over some differences of opinion with the government of Assam and the state education department. 

Sources in the University confirmed that Choudhury tendered his resignation on Saturday to the Chancellor of the University—Governor of Assam Lt. Gen. (retd) Ajai Singh. 

Although the Vice Chancellor was not available for comments, the sources said that the resignation was related to the ‘fund crunch’ while implementing the Vision Document of the University for over all development of the university. 

Sources also informed that Choudhury tendered his resignation as he failed to implement the Vision Document due to the apathy on the part of the state government and the ‘government policy’ towards the development of the university. 

It may be mentioned that the Vice Chancellor had earlier on the middle of last year also tendered his resignation due to the government apathy towards implementing the Vision document. 

However, the Chancellor did not accepted his resignation that time and instead the Chancellor convened an emergent meeting to form a committee of experts to peruse the Vision Document.
