Nagaland to extend relief to mautam hit Mizoram Kohima, May 9: As a token of good gesture, Nagaland government today appealed to its employees, ministers and MLAs to contribute a certain percentage of their monthly salaries to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund to extend relief to the people of Mizoram which was experiencing a famine like situation. In a notification, Chief Secretary Lalhuma said, Mizoram has been experiencing a famine like situation due to 'mautam', flowering of bamboo that eventually increases rodent population which eat away major yield of crops. The Nagaland cabinet yesterday decided to make an appeal to its employees, ministers and MLAs to contribute a certain percentage of their salaries to raise funds for CMs Relief Fund for extension of assistance to those affected in Mizoram. The notification issued to all administrative heads of departments to make voluntary contributions from their salaries to facilitate raising funds. It said the contribution might be submitted by June 6 to Senior Accounts Officer, Nagaland Secretariat, for further submission to the Chief Ministers relief Fund.
