"No underground militant group in Mizoram" 

Aizawl, Feb. 27: There is no underground groups that can cause trouble to the people and the government in Mizoram, state home minister Tawnluia said here today. 

Addressing a conference of Mizoram Police Service (MPS) Association, Tawnluia said law and order situation in the state has been satisfactory and Mizoram remains one of the most peaceful states in the country due to the absence of insurgent groups here. 

However, Tawnluia said, Being sandwiched between Myanmar and Bangladesh and sharing borders with insurgent-affected states, there have been stray incidents of incursions by militants into Mizoram in border areas. 

The Home Minister lauded the efforts of police personnel in detecting crime as Mizoram has the highest record of crime detection in the country at 96.55 per cent.

He said that Centre has been mulling over creating separate cad re for IAS and IPS officers posted in north eastern states thus.

Speeding up promotion in the civil and police services thereb easing stagnation among the officers. 

He announced that a post of Joint Secretary would soon be created in the state home department and the top post of the Fire and Emergency Services would be upgraded from Superintendent of Police to Director at the rank of Deputy Inspector of General and would be manned by MPS officers. 

Tawnluia also said that the personnel of Mizoram's India Reserve second battalion, now deployed in Naxal-hit Chhattisgarh to maintain law and order for around 15 months would be withdrawn after completion of two years. 

"We have asked the Union Home Ministry for their withdrawal after two years as was done in the case of Naga IR personnel, if we are compelled to remain there, another battalion would replace those being deployed now," he added.
