Commission's report on Beltola violence submitted 

Guwahati, Feb 26: The Justice (Retd) R K Manisana Singh Commission which probed the large-scale violence during an Adivasi rally at Beltola here has submitted its report to the Assam's Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. 

The commission submitted its 70-page report to the chief minister last night, official sources said today. 

The one-man commission was set up to ascertain the circumstances leading to the violence and lapses if any during a rally by All Adivasi Students Association on November 24 demanding ST status for the community. 

One young man was killed and many injured in the violence and an Adivasi girl was stripped allegedly by a few youths. 

The authorities, Adivasi student leaders and the Adivasi girl had deposed before the commission which was asked to fix responsibility and to prevent such incidents. The commission was asked to submit its report before February 28. 

The report is expected to be placed in the assembly in the ensuing assembly session, sources said.
