10. Thomas Ince was one of the first silent film actors. He was also a director, producer and screenwriter, and he was known as the Father of the Western. However, Thomas death was more fascinating that all his 600 films combined; according to the official story, Inces death was caused by heart failure. But was it really that? According to one story, Thomas attended a party on William Randolph Hearsts boat. Hearst then caught Charlie Chaplin with his mistress and when Thomas heard shouting from down below, he went to investigate. Unfortunately, Ince was then accidentally shot by Hearst. Charlie Chapling claimed otherwise in court, and heart failure remained as the official cause of Inces death.
